The Orange County Register recently named Jeffrey as one of the most influential individuals in Orange County.
Jeffrey is involved in various levels of community service in Tustin. He represents Tustin on the Orange County Transportation Authority–recently serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Incorporated in 1927, Tustin is located in central Orange County, California, in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. In 2010, Tustin had a total population of 75,540.
Tustin encompasses an area of over 11 square miles. The City is bounded on the south by the cities of Irvine and Santa Ana, on the north by the unincorporated portions of the County of Orange and the City of Orange, and on the east by unincorporated County territory and the City of Irvine.
In the larger context of the greater Southern California region, Tustin is located approximately two miles north of Orange County’s John Wayne Airport and is bisected by two major regional freeways: the I-5 (Santa Ana) Freeway, divides the City into north and south; and the SR-55 (Costa Mesa) Freeway, divides westerly portions of the City.
The City continues to be strategically located, characterized physically by its crossroads location, the former Marine Corps Air Station, Tustin, (closed in July 1999), hillside areas which offer sweeping panoramic views of the Pacific Coast and Saddleback Mountains, prime commercial, industrial, and residential development, and one of the oldest historical “old towns” in Orange County.
These significant natural and man-made characteristics provide a commonly acknowledged basis for a “sense of place”. Together, they act as a foundation for Tustin’s Future–a functional desirable and attractive community to live, work or visit.
Much like the glorious old trees that grace its landscape, Tustin is rooted in the past. Its early heritage is embodied by the captivating historic homes and commercial storefronts along the streets of Old Town. But also like its many grand old homes and trees, Tustin continues to flourish with existing and new communities, modern shopping centers and in its diverse industrial base, ever reaching out to the future.
Tustin Old Town is an area centered around a group of historic buildings located on Main Street and El Camino Real which date back to the 1880s. Among the early businesses and structures in Tustin were a blacksmith shop, a combined grocery store/meat market, a business and feed store building, churches and school buildings. The present day museum is located in a historic old building which has housed many businesses over the decades.
Because of a top 10% ranking in start-ups and sole proprietors per capita and one of the shortest commutes in Southern California, the city was chosen in 2009 by Forbes as one of the top 25 towns to live well in America.
Primary and secondary education in Tustin and surrounding unincorporated areas is overseen by the Tustin Unified School District. Tustin High School is a California Distinguished School, as is Foothill High School (Santa Ana, California). Tustin High School is also well-known regionally for its strong Model United Nations program. Many university-bound high school graduates attend nearby University of California, Irvine.
Tustin includes many important large and small employers. As of 2014, the top employers include:
* Tustin Unified School District
* New American Funding
* Rockwell Collins Inc
* Ricoh Electronics Inc
* City of Tustin
* Newport Specialty Hospital
* Tustin Hospital Medical Center
* Toshiba America Medical Systems
